Job Description:
- Perform x-rays for diagnostic purposes
- Follow established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety
- Responsible for educating and preparing patients for their examinations
- Provide excellent patient care and effective communication that is essential to the performance of a variety of procedures
- Perform accurate documentation of patient medical records, including documentation of patient medical history before an exam
- Position patients so desired anatomy will be demonstrated
- Determine and set appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology
- Assume responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients
- Inpatient imaging departments assume "on call" rotation on a regular basis
- Inpatient imaging technologists are required to cover both hospital locations as necessary
Requirements:
- Completion of a Radiologic Technology Associates degree program or equivalent
- Minimum one (1) year Rad Tech experience preferred
- ARRT(R) certified or eligible (must become ARRT(R) certified within one year of employment) required
- South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association certified required
- American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 calendar days of hire date; BLS Recertification is required every two (2) years
Skills and Knowledge:
- Radiation Safety, Anatomy and Positioning, Physics, Computer Skills, Medical Terminology, General Safety
Physical Requirements:
- Medium Physical Agility Test (PAT) Rating
- Frequently required to stand, sit, and walk
- Occasionally use hands, fingers; frequently talk or hear
- Exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, and greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
