PRN Nursing Supervisor (RN)
Tower Behavioral Health (TBH) is looking for a PRN Nursing Supervisor (RN) to join our team! TBH is a state-of-the-art Psych-Safe facility, with spacious outdoor courtyards, indoor gymnasiums, an herb garden, and a bird sanctuary. This 144-bed treatment center provides services to adults, adolescents, and seniors. The facility will offer inpatient and outpatient programs, counseling, treatment for substance use disorders, and other services. It is located in Reading, PA, on a partially wooded parcel on the west side of Route 183.
Job Description
- Responsible for day-to-day oversight of nursing operations of the facility and ensures staffing is adequate to provide care.
- Oversees the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services in a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments, and administration to ensure that all residents' physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental, and cultural needs are met.
- Acknowledges and works to resolve customer complaints when needs are not met.
- Provides leadership to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as nursing practice standards.
- Recognizes that patient safety is a top priority.
- Anticipates and effectively manages changes in census and acuity and allocates nursing resources based on measurement of patient acuity/care needed.
- Role models expectations related to customer service and demonstrates a sense of urgency related to the importance of patient safety.
- Enforces and interprets policies for the delivery of patient and resident care.
- Ensures proper staffing for each unit, keeping staff ratio appropriate for patient care needs, covering call-offs and vacation time.
- Ensures chart checks are completed, seclusion/restraint log is up to date, and nursing assessments are completed.
- Completes rounds at the beginning of shift and performs random audits.
- Assists the Director of Nursing (DON) to ensure all staff are oriented and competent to perform required duties, which may include coaching staff.
- Provides mentoring and training as needed.
- Assists the DON by ensuring facility compliance with professional, regulatory, and governmental standards.
- Ensures the effective delivery of competent, compassionate, and safe care by monitoring and evaluating patient care processes and outcomes on the patient care units.
- Coordinates all care rendered to patients, including physician orders and diagnostic information, and ensures consultations are ordered.
- Documents medical, behavioral health information, and nursing care.
- Administers medications and maintains records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Assists in developing a plan of care with specific and measurable goals, objectives, and interventions defining actions unique to each patient's needs.
- Assists in updating and revising the plan of care as goals/objectives are met or when the patient's condition changes.
- Prioritizes tasks and delegates staff to ensure quality patient care.
- Acts as leader on shift for all admissions and discharges, as well as informing physician of changes in the patient's conditions. Adjusts staffing accordingly.
- Utilizes administrator-on-call for situations that require additional attention.
- Provides direct care as needed.
Qualifications
- BSN from an accredited school of nursing preferred.
- Current license in the state of the facility.
- At least 1 year in med/surg nursing and/or 1 year in psychiatric/recovery programs preferred.
Licenses/Designations/Certifications
- Current certification or license to teach within the state where the facility is located.
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
- First aid may be required based on state or facility.
