San Diego County Behavioral Health Services (BHS) provides mental health and substance use disorder services to over 111,000 residents across the region with the support of 9 county-operated programs, over 300 contracts, and 800 individual providers. BHS aims to enhance, expand, and innovate the behavioral health programs available, ensuring clients have access to appropriate psychiatric services for immediate needs and long-term recovery.

Job Description:

• Work collaboratively with hospital administration and the County Behavioral Health Medical Director
• Be part of a community safety net free-standing hospital
• Support from internal medicine physicians for patient care

Emergency Psychiatric Unit (EPU):

• 18 beds
• Shifts:
  • 8 AM - 4 PM (2 physicians daily)
  • 4 PM - 12 AM (2 physicians daily)
  • 12 AM - 8 AM (2 physicians nightly)
• EMR: Cerner Millennium

Crisis Rehabilitation Unit (CRU):

• 60-bed inpatient unit
• 30-40 average daily census
• Long length of stay (bi-modal 5-7 days / 150 days)
• Shifts:
  • 8 AM - 4 PM
    • 4 physicians on weekdays
    • 2 physicians on weekends
• EMR: Cerner Millennium

Medical Director:

• Hours: 8-5 Monday - Friday
• EMR: Cerner Millennium
