    Assistant Medical Director of the Hospitalist Program

    St. Joseph's Health has an excellent full-time employment opportunity for a Board-Certified Internal Medicine physician to serve as Assistant Medical Director of the Hospitalist Program at Rome Memorial Hospital, located in Rome, New York.

    This leadership opportunity involves a mix of clinical duties and administrative responsibilities in support of the Medical Director, working closely with hospitalist team members, nursing, and non-clinical staff to coordinate care for all admitted patients.

    The position averages 40-50 hours per week and offers the chance to influence the program's growth, efficiency, and quality of care. This is a 0.5 FTE clinical / 0.5 FTE administrative position, offering a balance of direct patient care and program leadership responsibilities.

    Job Description

    • Ensuring hospitalist compliance with hospital policies, mission, and values
    • Supporting quality and performance improvement initiatives
    • Participating in staffing, scheduling, and census management
    • Providing direct patient care as needed
    • Conducting regular meetings with hospitalists and APPs
    • Mentoring and coaching physicians on quality, communication, and professionalism
    • Coordinating onboarding and orientation of new providers
    • Participating in evaluations and annual reviews of hospitalist team members
    • Supporting interdisciplinary collaboration with the Emergency Department and other clinical areas
    • Representing the program on hospital committees and quality teams
    • Assisting with recruitment and operational goals including budgeting and documentation oversight
