We have immediate openings for a part-time Licensed Vocational Nurse dedicated to making a meaningful difference for our clients.
Part-time Shift Availability
- 7am to 11:00am - Monday to Friday
Job Description
- Provide nursing services to the crisis respite program including but not limited to: physical assessments, timely documentation, as well as teaching and assisting adults with mental illnesses.
- Must be on duty 40 hours per week and must be available by telephone after hours and on weekends.
- Correctly filling out MARS forms on a continual basis and being in constant contact with doctors, pharmacists, caseworkers, etc. with concern to the care of the residents.
- Maintain Universal Precaution Guidelines and safety measures according to agency policies and procedures.
- Keep track of all doctor's appointments and follow-ups, including prescriptions, notes, orders, etc. given by a doctor or pharmacist as it pertains to the residents.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new personnel in medication management to include supervision of self-observation of medication by the residents of their individual medications.
- Responsible for assuring all residents are treated with dignity and respect.
- Responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents at all times.
- Handle client health information at a minimum necessary to document data, access and carry out responsibilities of the position, maintaining client confidentiality.
- Work hand in hand with the Behavioral Health Authority on all issues and concerns of the residents.
- Immediately report all abuse, neglect or exploitation and medication errors to The Wood Group's Client Rights Officer and facility administrator.
- Be familiar with The Wood Group's policy and procedures to include employee handbook.
- Perform related work as assigned by the administrator.
Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Has excellent observation, oral and written communication skills.
- Organizing assigned work functions and processes; reviewing, evaluating, and modifying work methods.
- Establishing and maintaining working relationships with clients, customers, and representatives of other agencies or departments.
- Using initiative and independent judgment within general policy guidelines.

Education and Qualifications:
- Is currently licensed to practice as a vocational nurse (LVN) in Texas. Must be at least 18 years of age, must have a current Texas driver's license.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Mobility and manual dexterity to work in a standard office environment and use standard office equipment. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, lift 20 pounds, sit for an extended period, and reach overhead.
- Travel which will include transporting consumers and/or picking up their medications.
- Work may involve at-risk clients or those who pose a threat to themselves or others.
