    Job Description:

    • Provide medical care and treatment within the established scope of practice to surgical patients under the direction of a collaborating physician.
    • Coordinate plan of care, discharge, and specialty referrals as appropriate to meet the age-specific needs of the patient.
    • Plan and coordinate health care education for patients, family, and other health care providers.
    • Perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments.
    • Interpret, analyze, and evaluate patient's medical records and social data.
    • Assist physicians with procedures per collaborative agreement.
    • Coordinate and participate in performance improvement activities.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Formulate and implement comprehensive patient care plans focused on surgical interventions based on thorough physical and psychosocial patient assessments.
    • Ensure complete documentation of patient assessments, care plans, and care provided.
    • Order and interpret laboratory and other diagnostic tests for patients.
    • Maintain records and reports as required by regulatory agencies and The Joint Commission (TJC).
    • Assist in the coordination of research protocols, serving as a patient advocate and liaison between the patient and other health care providers.
    • Provide assistance in the orientation and/or training of new clinical personnel.
    • Serve as the expert clinical resource to clinical staff and patients in the area of specialty.
    • Provide a safe environment for patients and others.
    • Demonstrate a responsible attitude toward continued professional growth.

    Requirements:

    • Master's degree in Nursing with an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification required.
    • Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
    • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
    • Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.

    Professional Development:

    • CME allowance: Full-time benefited APPs receive an annual $2,000.00 CME allowance for recertification, applicable fees, CME courses, etc.
