    Licensed Practical Nurse

    Join our dynamic team at UAB Medicine, Alabama's largest single-site employer, as we prepare to open an 11-story, state-of-the-art inpatient rehabilitation hospital in spring 2025. This position offers a unique opportunity to help restore patients' lives after injury in a nationally ranked rehabilitation hospital.

    Job Description

    • Provide nursing care to patients based on the nursing process, UAB Hospital Standards of Nursing Care, and UAB Hospital policies and procedures while ensuring quality of care.
    • Orient patients and family members to the surrounding environment, acting as a patient advocate.
    • Collect patient assessment data and notify RN of potential problems.
    • Evaluate patient’s response to care and report findings to RN.
    • Document delivery of patient care and effectively respond to emergency situations.
    • Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills, meet patients' educational needs, and serve as a role model to other members of the patient care team.

    Requirements

    • Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing Program required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
    • Currently licensed or licensed by endorsement as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
    • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
    • Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.

    Compensation

    • Pay Range: $22.90 - $37.25 per hour
    • $5,000 new hire sign-on bonus (full-time and weekend shifts only)

    Work Schedule

    UAB Medicine supports work/life balance. The shifts available for this unit are:

    • Full-time AM: 3 12-hour shifts per week
    • Full-time PM: 3 12-hour shifts per week
    • Full-time weekend AM and PM
    • Part-time weekend AM and PM
    • Flexi/PRN
