    Pediatric Physiatrist

    The UCSF Department of Orthopedic Surgery seeks a board-eligible or board-certified Pediatric Physiatrist with expertise in neuromuscular care: Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, chemodenervation, Intrathecal Baclofen Pump management, and electrodiagnostics in an academic or multispecialty setting. The role includes clinical care, teaching, and research at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland and Mission Bay. Responsibilities include collaborating on research, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and educating residents, fellows, and medical students.

    Requirements

    • Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine (or equivalent pediatric-heavy PM&R training).
    • Clinical expertise in spasticity management, including botulinum toxin and chemoneurolysis; ultrasound-guided procedures preferred.
    • Strong EMG/NCS skills or willingness to deepen competency with on-the-job training.
    • Ability to provide care across inpatient and outpatient settings, with interest in complex pediatric conditions.
    • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and academic engagement, with interest in research, QI, and program development.
    • Applicants must have all requirements met by time of hire.
    • Must have a valid California medical license.
    • MD or DO degree from an accredited program.
    • Completed an accredited Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program.
    • Completed an accredited Pediatric Residency Program or Pediatric Rehabilitation Fellowship.
    • Board certified or eligible in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and/or Pediatric Rehabilitation and/or Pediatric Medicine.
