    Intensivist Physician

At UNC Health Wayne, you will work with enthusiastic and knowledgeable critical care trained advanced practitioners, along with an entire hospitalist team collaborating to ensure the best possible care is provided to our critically ill patients. You will also count on the support of an Intensive Care director with over 30 years of experience who ensures your voice is heard.

    Our documentation is standardized throughout the inpatient setting, collaboratively created by intensivist and hospitalist leaders, making transitions of care more informative, efficient, and easier to digest.

    Job Description

    • Provide care for the critically ill patient population while covering the ICU departments
    • Improve outcomes, including lower mortality and shorter lengths of stay
    • Coordinate all the specialty care that patients may need
    • Effectively communicate to patients and families throughout the entire process/procedure including preparation and post
    • Maintain comprehensive records of patient care and procedures

    Requirements

    • Graduated from an accredited Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy school
    • Board Certified in Pulmonology required
    • Board Certified in Critical Care required
    • Familiar with standard concepts and critical care procedures
    • Experienced Intensivist with 2 or more years of experience preferred
    • New pulmonology/critical care fellowship candidates highly welcomed to apply

    About Us

    Wayne UNC is a modern facility with 316 acute care beds, a 125-year history, a 16-bed closed ICU, 38 emergency beds, 4 trauma beds, 4 behavioral health beds, an 8-bed labor and delivery unit, a 26-bed nursery, and a 22-bed behavioral health unit. Our EMR system is Epic. The schedule is from 7 am to 7 pm, with nighttime coverage provided by a vICU provider.
