    Medical Laboratory Technician

    Location: Uniontown, Pennsylvania

    Job Description:

    • Perform and analyze clinical laboratory tests within scope of licensure in all laboratory disciplines
    • Understand method principles, perform quality control, perform preventative maintenance
    • Review and analyze results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • For West Virginia Labs:
      • Associate of Science (AAS) degree in Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Technology or Science OR Associate degree in a physical, chemical or biological science with one year of clinical lab training/experience
      • WV Licensure as a Laboratory Technician (MLT) within 90 days of hire
    • For Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Maryland Labs:
      • Associate of Science (AAS) degree in Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Technology or Science OR Associate degree in a physical, chemical or biological science with one year of clinical lab training/experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT)
    • Experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician

    Core Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Process and analyze samples timely and accurately
    • Set up, run, maintain, and adjust laboratory instruments
    • Ensure quality control and follow infection control procedures
    • Perform phlebotomy procedures as needed
    • Complete forms and report findings to nurses and/or physicians
    • Interact with healthcare workers to solve problems and interpret lab results
    • Perform routine laboratory testing and recognize testing inconsistencies
    • Maintain accurate patient and specimen records
    • Follow safety guidelines and maintain compliance with policies

    Physical Requirements:

    • Requires strength and stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying materials
    • May sit for extended periods

    Working Environment:

    • Work around strong or unpleasant odors
    • May be exposed to agents causing serious disease

    Skills and Abilities:

    • Able to multitask and handle stressful situations
    • Communicate effectively
    • Work well as a team with co-workers and other staff
    • Knowledge of basic computer skills

    Additional Information:

    • Sign-on bonus available up to $5,000 for part-time
