    Medical Technologist

    Join our team at UnityPoint-St Luke's Hospital, where you will have the opportunity to work full-time nights in a supportive environment. This position offers a flexible schedule with four 10-hour shifts from 9 PM to 7:30 AM, including alternating weekends.

    Job Description

    • Perform clinical tests and procedures in one or more functional sections of the laboratory.
    • Maintain records of performance as defined by the laboratory's administrative and sectional standard operating procedures.
    • Perform and record quality control on equipment as trained.
    • Follow CAP, CLIA, HIPAA, and DNV guidelines and standards.
    • Demonstrate technical and operational expertise.
    • Interpret quality control results and instrument function.
    • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance duties.
    • Provide assistance and guidance involving repairs, validations, and function checks.
    • Organize, prioritize, execute, and interpret workload; assist coworkers with interpretations and troubleshooting.
    • Participate in quality assurance (QA) and attend QA laboratory meetings as requested.
    • Assist and monitor necessary supplies and kit availability for patient testing.
    • Provide operational training for coworkers involving manual, automated, and organizational skills for patient testing.
    • Help Phlebotomy services draw blood from patients in the Out-Patient area located in the laboratory.
    • Work weekend shifts on a normal rotation.
    • Practice good communication skills with internal and external customers.

    Requirements

    • Baccalaureate degree with a major in Medical Technology or related science.
    • Less than one year of experience.
    • Certified as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by Board of Registry of ASCP or equivalent due upon hire or within 1 year from date of hire.
    • Fluent in English (writing, reading, comprehension, and speaking).
    • Multicultural sensitivity.
    • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office.
    • Customer/patient focused with critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.
