    PA Trauma Surgery

    Full-Time PA Trauma Surgery Opportunity at South Texas Health System.

    Job Description

    • Manage pre-operative and post-operative patients in coordination with the trauma surgeons.
    • Perform tertiary examinations of trauma registered patients and provide episodic care or problem-oriented care under the direction of trauma surgeons.
    • Assist the trauma department with quality performance improvement projects.
    • Conduct complex, standardized patient care procedures which require experience and specialized training which would otherwise be performed by a trauma surgeon, but which do not constitute the practice of medicine.
    • Assess patient's medical complaints and provide appropriate treatment.
    • Perform various minor surgical procedures as delegated by the supervising physician.
    • Utilize advanced assessment skills to anticipate complex patient problems specific to trauma while communicating information to the trauma surgeon.
    • Order appropriate laboratory tests and exams and interpret data with the trauma surgeon.
    • Monitor treatment program of the patient to inform the trauma surgeon of pertinent medical/surgical information.
    • Respond to emergency trauma alerts.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
