Join our team as a Phlebotomist, where you will play a crucial role in patient care by accurately and rapidly collecting blood and body fluid samples from inpatients and outpatients. This position emphasizes the importance of proper labeling and timely delivery of samples to the laboratory.
Job Description
- Accurately and rapidly collect blood and body fluid samples from inpatients and outpatients in the proper container, correctly labeling all tubes and promptly delivering blood samples to the laboratory.
- Timely and accurately collect blood specimens from patients, using appropriate aseptic collection methods and the correct collection system.
- Utilize Laboratory LIS to receive specimens, generate labels, and create specimen transfer lists.
- Follow proper infectious/isolation policies.
- Perform duties promptly, safely, efficiently, and reliably.
- Care for and handle specimens, supplies, and equipment properly.
- Maintain good guest relations and working relations by following University Health Customer Service Standards.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent experience is required.
- Knowledge of capillary and venipuncture techniques is preferred.
Licensure/Certification
- Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) is not required, but recommended.
