    Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

    University of Minnesota Physicians seeks an enthusiastic, independent Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join a growing Urology team at Fairview Lakes Medical Center. University of Minnesota Urology providers are national leaders in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases and conditions of the urinary system. Using the latest treatment techniques, University of Minnesota providers deliver both general and specialized Urology care for both men and women. Join our practice of more than 20 Urology surgeons and 11 Advanced Practice Providers at the forefront of our specialty as we continue to lead innovative and pioneering efforts in urologic care.

    Job Description

    • Perform history and physicals, comprehensive review of systems, and thorough chart reviews
    • Prescribe medications/therapies, order diagnostic tests, perform minor therapeutic procedures, provide peri-operative evaluations, and first-assist in the OR
    • Function at a very high level of autonomy while having close MD availability for decision making
    • Incorporate outpatient, inpatient, and OR first-assisting responsibilities
    • Focus on general urology in the outpatient setting with the clinic located in Wyoming, MN, primarily in-person with virtual options in the future
    • Inpatient responsibilities include post-operative assessments, rounding on an inpatient Urology cohort, and completing hospital or ED consults at Fairview Lakes Medical Center
    • Operating room first-assistant responsibilities will be at Fairview Lakes Medical Center
    • Work 40 hours per week with a schedule varying between 7 AM - 5 PM Monday through Friday, which may include some weekends and infrequent cross-coverage responsibilities at other M Health locations

    Requirements

    • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or formal Adult Nurse Practitioner training program
    • Eligible or certified through NCCPA, ANCC, or AANP
    • Licensed or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice (PAs) or MN APRN license through MN Board of Nursing (NPs)
    • Able to meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges
    • Preference will be given to those with Urology or surgical experience, but this is not required for consideration
