    ECC Veterinary Nurse Trainer

    Job Description:

    • Support operations of UW Veterinary Care (UWVC) Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) and Intermediate Care Ward (IMCW) units.
    • Onboard and train new veterinary staff on basic skills for success in the ECC and IMCW.
    • Assist with hands-on patient care in the small animal hospital.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist veterinarians in animal care, diagnostic, preventative, research, anesthesia, surgery, post-operative care, euthanasia, and radiology procedures.
    • Prepare, complete, monitor, and document complex technical animal care procedures.
    • Maintain surgical support facilities in a clean and orderly manner.
    • Assist in training new veterinary and/or animal care technicians.

    Tasks:

    • Collaborate to develop and implement standard operating procedures for the ER, CCU, and IMCW.
    • Address knowledge gaps among staff.
    • Foster a respectful and positive working environment.
    • Design and implement structured training programs.
    • Provide timely, constructive feedback to veterinary staff and students.
    • Coordinate and support teaching labs for veterinary staff.
    • Support the blood donor program.
    • Assist with troubleshooting and repairing equipment.

    Education:

    • Preferred: Associate's Degree

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 5 years experience as a certified veterinary technician required.
    • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. independently.

    License/Certification:

    • Required: CVT - Certified Veterinary Technician
    • Preferred: VTS - Veterinary Tech Specialist

    Work Schedule:

    • Regularly scheduled weekday hours within 9:00am-10:00pm.
    • Three-to-five-day work week possible.
    • Some weekend hours required.

    Work Type:

    • Full Time: 100%
    • Requires work be performed in-person, onsite.

    Salary:

    • Minimum $28.00 HOURLY
    • Sign-on Bonus of 5% of base pay to be paid over the first year of employment.
