    Job Description

    • Promote, provide, and maintain patient care under physician supervision and in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
    • Obtain and record complete medical history; perform physical exams according to departmental protocols.
    • Obtain and interpret laboratory tests according to departmental protocols.
    • Assess patient database and identify biopsychosocial needs.
    • Develop and implement patient management plans; initiate and manage preventative healthcare.
    • Provide relevant counseling and education to patients and significant others within role limitation.
    • Work 7 on / 7 off from 7 PM to 7 AM.

    Requirements

    • Education: Master's Degree Graduate of a Master's degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program OR Master's degree or higher in nursing, documentation of completion of accredited Advanced Practice Education Program. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.

    • Licenses and Certifications:

      • Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) upon hire.
      • Licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board upon hire.
      • Current applicable American Heart Association Life Support certification(s) based on UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers upon hire OR
      • Licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by Texas State Board of Nursing with authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing. Acute Care certification.

    Preferred

    • Experience: 1 year relevant clinical experience.

    Job Duties

    • Conduct and document comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status.
    • Synthesize data and utilize evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in technical/procedural skills, as appropriate and based on specialty and training.
    • Provide relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families, and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures.
    • Facilitate/participate in quality-related initiatives and/or clinical research protocols through planned group processes, workshops, seminars, and staff meetings to improve clinical and system practice performance.
    • Collaborate in research projects and protocols; routinely apply evidence-based best practices to patient care.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
