    Job Description

    • Join a collaborative team of APPs caring for high acuity cardiac surgery patients at Clements University Hospital.
    • Manage their postoperative hospital course and assist with drain management, discharge planning, evaluation of consults, etc.
    • No OR procedures or first assist.
    • Schedule is 12-hour day shifts with rotating weekends and holidays.
    • We're looking for an experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. Veterans are encouraged to apply.

    Requirements

    • Graduate of a master's degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program or a master's degree or higher in nursing with documentation of completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program.
    • Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required. Licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board or licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by Texas State Board of Nursing with authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing and Acute Care certification.
    • Current applicable (ACLS) American Heart Association or American Red Cross Life Support certification(s) based on UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers.

    Preferred

    • 1 year relevant clinical experience preferred.

    Job Duties

    • Conduct and document comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status.
    • Synthesize data and utilize evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in technical/procedural skills, as appropriate and based on specialty and training.
    • Provide relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families, and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures.
    • Facilitate/participate in quality-related initiatives and/or clinical research protocols through planned group processes, workshops, seminars, and staff meetings to improve clinical and system practice performance.
    • Collaborate in research projects and protocols; routinely apply evidence-based best practices to patient care.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
