    Job Description

    • Responsible for planning, organizing, and administering patient care within the scope of training and expertise, collaborating with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes.
    • Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
    • Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
    • Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
    • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.

    Requirements

    • 40 hours/week, 3p-11p shift; includes weekend (every 4th or 5th weekend) and holiday call.
    • $10k sign-on bonus for eligible candidates (current employees or candidates who have worked at Vanderbilt within the last year are not eligible).

    Community Overview

    The environment on our Surgery Unit (OR) is welcoming, supportive, and adaptive to provide the teamwork necessary to care for each patient. This is a unit that provides for our patients needing urgent or emergent surgical procedures. We work closely with all the interdisciplinary teams involved in our patient's care. We care for pediatric and adult patients.

    Our nurses are successful because they are committed to our patients, team members, and communities and offer extensive nursing knowledge while giving compassionate care. We orient new nurses to our unit by providing a preceptor who supports the learning experience of the new nurse throughout the orientation experience.
