Job Description:
- Responsible for planning, organizing, and administering patient care within the scope of his/her training and expertise.
- Collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery.
- Ensure achievement of desired patient outcomes in conjunction with the objectives and policies of the hospital and the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Tennessee.
- Work hours: 7p-7a, 36 hours/week.
Unit Overview:
- The Progressive Care Unit is located on the 3rd floor at Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital (VTHH).
- It's a 19-bed unit with a typical Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4 and the assistance of a Patient Care Technician/Certified Nurse Assistant.
- The environment focuses on teamwork, excellent patient care, and welcoming new team members.
- Care for adult patients with a variety of medical diagnoses, working closely with local cardiologists.
Professional Development:
- Orient new nurses through six weeks of unit-specific orientation with a designated preceptor and skills days focusing on skills used on our unit.
- Encourage professional growth, providing knowledge and skills to succeed and grow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate in establishing the plan of care, coordinating and implementing care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
- Analyze comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
- Utilize the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and apply appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
- Employ strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
- Handle additional duties as assigned.
Technical Capabilities:
- Nursing Patient Assessment & Evaluation Home Care (Novice): Ability to assess and evaluate patients in practical applications of moderate difficulty in the home setting.
- Nursing Patient Education (Novice): Provide patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
- Care Planning (Novice): Anticipate resource needs, identify tasks, set priorities, schedule activities, and organize work within areas of direct responsibility.
- Evidence-Based Nutrition Practice (Novice): Search for nutrition evidence to answer clinical questions.
