Physical Therapist Clinician II
The Physical Therapist Clinician II is primarily responsible for the delivery of physical therapy care to the patient population to which she/he is assigned and the recording of that care in the hospital medical record. The therapist acts as a consultant to various patient populations. The Physical Therapist Clinician II provides instruction to OT/PT support staff, PT students, personnel of other disciplines within VCUHS, and patient and/or family members. Therapists may rotate through our various clinical service areas.
Job Description
- Deliver physical therapy care to assigned patient populations and document care in the hospital medical record.
- Act as a consultant to various patient populations.
- Provide instruction to OT/PT support staff, PT students, and personnel of other disciplines.
- Rotate through various clinical service areas as needed.
Requirements
- Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist.
- Current license by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist for continued employment.
- Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area.
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Physical Therapist.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Physical Therapy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Physical Therapy.
- Successful challenge of the VCUHS Physical Therapy Clinical Ladder.
Additional Position Requirements
- Patient evaluation and implementation of intervention programs, discharge planning.
- Ordering equipment and representing the department at rounds and discharge conferences.
- Scheduling and charging patients.
- Share in weekend and holiday schedule expectations or have fluctuating daily work hours based on patient population needs.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting 50-100 lbs.
- Frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, other), reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive), and repetitive motion.
- Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, reading, and logical thinking.
Emotional Requirements
- Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and frequent customer interactions.
- Adaptability to frequent change in a noisy environment.
