NICU Nurse Manager
Location: Palm Springs, California
Job Description:
- 24/7 responsibility and accountability for day-to-day coordination of NICU operations and quality of clinical nursing care
- Direct supervision of all clinical personnel and ancillary staff in the NICU
- Supervise and mentor Clinical Managers and Resource Nurses
- Schedule management for both shifts
- Ensure compliance with standards, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Assist the Director with action plans and achieving departmental goals
- Collaborate with Director and Clinical Educator to maintain current policies and procedures
- Perform customer service actions, including family rounding and issue follow-up
- Assure regulatory compliance with Title 22, TJC, CDPH, and CCS
- Act as a consultant on complex patient care
- Manage productivity and report on department productivity each pay period
- Handle statistical data and department Kronos functions
- Develop and submit a capital equipment list to the Director
- Ensure timely payment of supplies, invoicing, and contracts
- Conduct timely evaluations for new hires and annual reviews
- Maintain current employee files and ensure staff licensures and certifications
- Investigate incidents and complete required documentation and action plans
- Support NICU Clinical Managers and Resource Nurses with operational issues
- Facilitate staff recognition, meetings, and Neonatal Operations Committee
- Counsel staff effectively and represent the NICU in meetings and committees
- Monitor performance improvement projects and collaborate with the Director
- On occasion, provide direct patient care and respond to emergencies
- Collaborate with the NICU Medical Director and NICU Director for ongoing feedback and growth
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of NICU experience, with 3 years full-time NICU clinical experience
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current California RN license
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (in progress considered with definitive completion date)
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
- Current NRP certification
- Certified in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing from the NCC or other accredited organization (in progress considered)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Nursing
- NRP Instructor Certification
- Critical Care Transport Experience

- Demonstrates clinical competence and leadership skills
- Ability to present self in a positive and professional manner
- Leadership in management experience and ability to collaborate with Nursing Director and Medical Director
