Job Description:
- Work in a team environment to provide care to in/out patients from multiple services
- Use clinical knowledge and VRCCO's SOP to treat patients in accordance with the primary DVM's orders
- Ensure patients' treatments are completed in a safe and timely manner
- Requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and ability to triage medical situations
Essential Functions:

Maintenance of hospital:
- Disinfect kennels, treatment tables, and other surfaces
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain medical equipment and instruments
- Stock necessary supplies and remove garbage

Patient Care:
- Restrain patients for exams and medical treatments
- Walk, feed, and bathe patients
- Triage patients and perform medical treatments under supervision
- Monitor patients for pain and discomfort

Client Communications:
- Obtain and write histories from owners
- Provide treatment plans and financial updates
- Assist CSR with telephone inquiries and scheduling

Laboratory:
- Collect and handle laboratory samples
- Perform in-house laboratory tests

Radiology:
- Assist in taking radiographs and CT scans
- Restrain patients for ultrasounds

Surgery/Anesthesia Prep:
- Assist in inducing anesthesia and maintain aseptic technique
- Prepare surgical sites and instruments
Education & Experience:
- Technical knowledge in a clinical setting acquired through apprenticeship, degree pursuit, or professional certification
- Preferred: hands-on experience in an emergency unit of a veterinary hospital
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Calm and reassuring in stressful situations
- Medical math for calculating dose conversions
- Knowledge of feline and canine anatomy
- Strong customer service and people skills
Physical Demands:
- Lift and carry up to 40 lbs; team lift up to 150 lbs
- Sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently
- Wear all protective gear and work in high-animal-sound environments
