Job Description
- Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients
- Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patients' specific needs
- Prescribes and/or recommends therapeutic measures, tests, procedures, and drugs (including narcotics) in accordance with the ethical principles of medicine
- Implements and monitors interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability
- Facilitates the patient's transition within and between health care settings
- Facilitates staff, patient, and family decision making by providing necessary education
- Provides comprehensive medical care to Equity Health patients
- Serves as a medical resource for VIA staff
- Assists in staff training
- Assists in education and training of healthcare professionals and the public
- Optimizes cost-effective plan of care
- Assists in the development of policies
- Maximizes clinical efficiency to ensure reimbursement is optimized
- Submits billing and documentation according to policy
- May perform other duties as required
Requirements
- A master's degree in nursing; current, active, and unrestricted NC/SC license as Registered Nurse (RN), and official recognition as Nurse Practitioner from NC/SC Board of Nursing
- Successful board certification in specialty within 2 years of date of hire; current and unrestricted DEA and Basic Life Support required
- Computer proficiency is required
- Minimum 1-year related experience
- Experience in direct care of patients with life-limiting illnesses required. Related experience may include hospice and palliative care; family medicine; internal medicine; geriatrics; oncology; home health care; medical surgical
