Job Description

• Henry Ford Providence Hospitals Novi and Southfield campuses are seeking a Physician Assistant to provide locum coverage in the General Surgery department. This is a hospital-based OR-focused role supporting a large surgical team.
• Coverage Dates: Immediate start through December with the option to remain credentialed PRN afterward.
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with flexible start/end times, totaling 40 hours per week.
• Call Requirements: None.
• Location: Novi and Southfield campuses, Level II Trauma Center.
• Practice Setting: Hospital-based OR with more than 20 operating rooms and 3 DaVinci robots.
• Responsibilities include bedside first-assisting in robotic surgical cases (GYN, urology, general surgery, bariatrics), placement of ports and closure of port sites, occasional assistance in non-robotic cases as needed, and occasional discharges/depart documentation and outpatient prescriptions.
• Team Environment: Surgeon and residents present in all cases; senior residents typically at console may have junior residents bedside. Support from scrub techs and circulating nurses; more than 30 surgeons credentialed on the robotic platform.
• Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: 60-120 days. Local candidates preferred; hotel and mileage reimbursed if approved. Henry Ford does not reimburse for background checks or application/credentialing fees.
• Perm Placement/Conversion Fees: APP: $16k. Locum to Perm Reduction in Conversion Fees: NP/PA: 160-319 hours = $2500 reduction, 320-639 hours = $3500 reduction, 640+ hours = $4500 reduction. Regardless of the number of hours a NP/PA has worked, the reduction will not exceed $4500.
• 1099 Pay Rate: Competitive market rates (W-2 pay packages available upon request).
• Certification Requirements: ACLS; BLS.
