Job Description

• Provide locum coverage in the Cardiothoracic Surgery department.
• Report directly to the Cardiovascular Surgeon and play a vital role in patient care.
• Coordinate the perioperative process, assist with surgeries, and perform rounding and test interpretation for adult and geriatric patients.
• Work within OR and ICU/CVICU settings, contributing to patient management in a fast-paced, specialized surgical environment.
• Coverage is needed from April through July, with specific start and end dates to be confirmed.

Requirements

• Current PA license and appropriate certifications.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Cardiothoracic or Vascular Surgery or Critical Care.
• Proficiency in patient assessment, care coordination, and test interpretation.
• Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience with EMR systems, preferably Epic.
• Ability to work in adult and geriatric patient populations.
• Willingness to participate in OR call and ICU/CVICU call rotations.
• Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills.

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience with vein harvesting and vascular tissue retrieval (not required).
• Prior work as a Surgical Nurse Practitioner or similar role.
• Additional certifications such as ACLS or ARNP specialization in critical care or surgery.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• At least 2-3 years of relevant surgical or critical care experience.
• Prior experience working within a hospital setting, preferably in cardiothoracic or vascular surgery.

Other Requirements

• Credentialing process estimated at 60-90 days; temporary privileges potentially available in 45 days.
• Willingness to work scheduled OR and ICU/CVICU call shifts.
• Ability to adapt to evolving clinical demands and participate in ongoing credentialing and compliance procedures.
