    Job Description:

    • Checks staffing at beginning of shift, recruiting staff as needed due to absenteeism
    • Receives report from off going shift
    • Monitors residents with unstable conditions
    • Monitors residents who have been involved in an incident in the previous 24/48 hours per facility policy
    • Notifies physician and resident/legal representative of resident condition per facility policy
    • Makes rounds on each unit at least once per shift
    • Assists with orientation of new nursing personnel
    • Supervises work performance of nursing unit personnel
    • Supervises appropriate utilization of break and meal times
    • Assists all nursing personnel with any problems related to resident care issues
    • Assures that resident care assignments are completed
    • Administers medications or treatments as necessary
    • Ensures security of the building (all exit doors are locked) after 10PM
    • Ensures that telephone calls are answered after 10PM
    • Conducts fire drills as directed by the Safety Director
    • Implements facility Disaster plan when deemed necessary
    • Consults with the Director of Nursing or the Assistant Director of Nursing when necessary
    • Reports any and all allegations of abuse, neglect or misappropriation of resident property to the administrator or his/her designee as appropriate
    • Reports any injury of unknown etiology to the Director of Nursing or his/her designee as appropriate
    • Gives report to the oncoming shift
    • Performs other duties as assigned or directed by the Director of Nursing

    Requirements:

    • Possess a current, active license as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Kentucky
    • Demonstrates leadership ability
    • Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to apply principles of nursing care and standards of nursing practice
    • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively and supervise all levels of personnel
    • Demonstrates knowledge of the legal aspects of nursing practice
    • Demonstrates the ability to apply principles of communication and problem-solving techniques
    • Demonstrates knowledge of and the purpose and functioning of resident care equipment
