Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psych NP)
Job Description:
- Provide psychiatric consultation, diagnostic, treatment, and medication management services to patients, including crisis intervention services.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, implement and evaluate individualized plans of care, and monitor medication and treatment protocols in accordance with established policies and procedures and state guidelines.
- Document all relevant patient care issues, including observations and interventions, in progress notes and treatment plans that are problem-oriented, legible, and compliant with documentation requirements.
- Provide individualized care and treatment that is culturally sensitive and age-appropriate, and participate in the psychiatric on-call schedule if required.
- Adhere to established formulary procedures for therapeutic regimens, and support standards of psychiatric care through adherence to policies and procedures for admission and transfer, utilization review, and referrals.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for individual judgments and actions, and provide input into mandatory committees as requested by superiors.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
- Two (2) years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner. Psychiatric experience preferred and/or experience in a residential healthcare institution.
- Certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the state of practice highly desired.
- Must maintain CPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract.
