    Food Service Worker

    Join our team as a Food Service Worker, where you will perform a variety of routine duties related to the preparation and serving of food, along with cleanup tasks. This role includes providing outstanding customer service to patients, staff, and visitors, assembling and delivering patient trays, preparing equipment, foods, and beverages, and restocking for service in the cafeteria and other retail/caf locations.

    Job Description

    • Work on the central tray line and assist with patient tray setup and preparation.
    • Set up and serve patient trays in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
    • Prepare, load, transport, and clean food carts.
    • Prepare and set up steam tables, serving lines, and menu boards.
    • Obtain and place dishes, serving utensils, hot and cold foods, baked goods, beverages, desserts, and condiments.
    • Review menu and prep sheets and assemble food and supplies as needed for daily salad and cold foods preparation.
    • Prepare salad mixes and sandwich spreads such as tuna, chicken, and egg salad.
    • Prepare salad plates and tossed salads by portioning out mixes and adding salad vegetables.
    • Prepare sandwiches, subs, wraps, salads, and specialty items as directed.
    • Prepare handcrafted beverages and specialty drinks as directed.
    • Wash and cut vegetables and fruits according to procedures.
    • Alert supervisor to problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies.
    • Detect and report spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment, or other unusual conditions.
    • Carry dishes and foods between kitchen and serving lines and serve food as directed.
    • Operate dishwasher or manually wash all dishes and utensils in accordance with established policies and procedures.
    • Participate in post-meal cleanup tasks as assigned or directed.
    • Collect, process, and dispose of trash, cans, bottles, and similar debris and transport to disposal area.

    Common Expectations

    • Maintain established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
    • Participate in training, educational programs, and in-service meetings.
    • Provide outstanding customer service to all patients, staff, and customers; foster teamwork; and practice fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
    • Wipe off counters and tables; arrange, rearrange, and replenish items as needed.
    • Clean the kitchen area and cooking utensils.
    • Operate cash register as needed, including receiving payment from visitors and staff, balancing the cash drawer after each meal, and compiling information for required reports.
    • Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education:

    • None Required
    • High School Diploma or GED Preferred

    Work Experience:

    • Up to 1 month experience required

    • Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English at a level which enables the individual to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job.
    • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and customer service skills.
    • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and established procedures.
