Neurology and Neurosurgery Clinical Director
Responsible for defining clinical priorities within neurology and neurosurgery, recruitment of appropriate physician staff, clinical oversight of EEG, EMG, Stroke Unit, research, and other neuroscience initiatives to be developed within WellSpan Health. Administers and directs the activities of assigned personnel. Provides medical care to patients. Reviews the quality, adequacy, and appropriateness of services within the department.
Job Description
- Establishes, maintains, and administers policies and procedures, objectives, quality management programs, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Identifies patient and/or provider needs and develops quality programs to meet those needs. Ensures delivery of quality services for patients.
- Develops and administers department continuing education programs. Participates in the education of house staff and Medical Staff continuing education activities.
- Provides clinical supervision to physician and non-physician staff within the department.
- Participates on appropriate committees and attends and/or conducts meetings as required.
- Consults with resident staff and/or Hospital staff physicians as needed.
- Participates in Medical Staff activities as required and/or as requested.
- Observes the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Hospital and the Medical Staff.
- Provides direct patient care services and otherwise performs the duties of a Rehabilitation Medicine Staff Physician.
- Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor, and staff by complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
- Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) Required or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required
- Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon Upon Hire Required or Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Upon Hire Required
- Diplomate of the American Board of Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Medicine. Upon Hire Required
- Completion of a Neurology residency. Upon Hire Required
- Must qualify and be a member of the Medical Staff of York Hospital. Upon Hire Required
