    Psychiatrist

    Provides psychiatric services to patients in the behavioral health network. Treatment is provided through a variety of levels of care. The psychiatrist is the primary provider of psychiatric assessment and intervention and ensures the patient's psychiatric needs are adequately and effectively met.

    Job Description

    • Provides psychiatric evaluations at various levels of care and makes diagnoses and treatment recommendations based upon those evaluations.
    • Evaluates each patient’s need for psychotropic medication and prescribes medications where needed and appropriate.
    • Educates patients and their families about the benefits, effects, and possible side effects of the medications prescribed.
    • Schedules follow-up visits with patients to monitor and adjust these prescribed medications, as necessary.
    • Maintains medical record documentation that is accurate, complete, comprehensive, and timely.
    • Orders medical tests, laboratory studies, consultations, and additional evaluations as needed for good patient care.
    • Participates on appropriate committees and attends and/or conducts meetings as required.
    • Participates in Medical Staff activities as required and/or as requested.

    • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor, and staff by complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
    • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

    Requirements

    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) required.
    • Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon or Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine upon hire required.
    • Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry or the American Osteopathic Board of Psychiatry upon hire required.
    • Completion of a Psychiatry residency and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (not applicable for Adult Programs) upon hire required.
    • Must qualify and be a member of the Medical Staff upon hire required.
