    Pulmonary Services Physician

    Assists in the operation of the Pulmonary Services Department. Provides medical care to patients. Assists in the review of the quality, adequacy, and appropriateness of services within the department.

    Job Description

    • Performs bronchoscopy procedures.
    • Assists with the establishment and maintenance of department policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment programs, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
    • Identifies patient and/or provider needs and develops quality programs to meet those needs.
    • Ensures delivery of quality services for patients.
    • Participates in the development and administration of department continuing education programs.
    • Participates in the education of house staff, School of Respiratory Therapy students, and Medical Staff continuing education activities.
    • Provides clinical supervision to appropriate physician and non-physician staff within the department.
    • Consults with resident staff and/or Hospital staff physicians as needed.
    • Oversees the activities of the Pulmonary Function Laboratory and the respiratory therapy program in area nursing homes.

    • Observes the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Hospital and the Medical Staff.
    • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor, and staff by complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
    • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

    Requirements

    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) required.
    • Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon upon hire required or Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine upon hire required.
    • Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine upon hire required.
    • Subspecialty certification in Pulmonary Disease or Pulmonary Disease/Critical Care Medicine upon hire required.
    • Completion of an Internal Medicine residency upon hire required.
    • Fellowship in Pulmonary Disease or Pulmonary Disease/Critical Care Medicine upon hire required.
