    OB/GYN Residency Program Director

    Oversees medical education activities of the OB/GYN Residency Program. Ensures the administration and direction of these training programs in accordance with appropriate requirements, standards, and regulations. Reviews the quality, adequacy, and appropriateness of services within the department.

    Job Description

    • Oversees resident recruitment, evaluation, and promotion.
    • Supervises and teaches residents and medical students.
    • Regularly reviews the quality of resident education and makes changes as necessary.
    • Improves resident curriculum.
    • Develops and administers department continuing education programs.
    • Participates in the education of house staff and Medical Staff continuing education activities.
    • Chairs the Education Committee within the Department of OB/GYN.
    • Consults with resident staff and/or Hospital staff physicians as needed.
    • Participates in research and other scholarly activities.
    • Performs as a voting member of the Medical Education Committee for York Hospital.

    Common Expectations

    • Participates in Medical Staff activities as required and/or as requested.
    • Observes the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Hospital and the Medical Staff.
    • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
    • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor, and staff by complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
    • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

    Requirements

    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) required.
    • 5 years of experience as a clinician, administrator, and educator required.
    • Experience in ambulatory primary health care for women required.
    • Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon or Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine upon hire required.
    • Diplomate of the American Board of OB/GYN or the American Osteopathic Board of OB/GYN upon hire required.
    • Completion of an OB/GYN residency upon hire required.
    • Must qualify and be a member of the Medical Staff of York Hospital upon hire required.
    • Completion of a subspecialty fellowship upon hire preferred.
