    Ophthalmic Technician

    The Ophthalmic Tech is responsible for supporting ophthalmic clinic duties. This position operates Monday to Friday from 7:55 AM to 5:00 PM.

    Job Description

    • Assist physician with screening patients
    • Perform OCT within six (6) months
    • Perform FA within twelve (12) to fifteen (15) months
    • Effectively communicate and explain procedures to patients
    • Prepare for procedures and documentation
    • Complete patient paperwork (forms, insurance, letters, etc.)
    • Assess charts for completion and compliance before filing
    • Acquire certifications necessary for Medicare compliance
    • Practice with ethical and legal guidelines
    • Accept direction from supervisor and adhere to established routines
    • Must be able to travel and maintain travel equipment
    • Maintain patient confidentiality
    • Return patient phone calls
    • Refer situations beyond ability to proper person
    • Maintain exam rooms (cleaning, stocking)
    • Assist with housekeeping of clinic
    • Fill in wherever needed
    • Be a team player and participate with others to accomplish tasks
    • Make a positive contribution to morale
    • Seek educational opportunities and accept responsibility for own professional growth and development
    • Scribe and perform other duties as assigned

    Requirements

    • High school diploma or GED
    • MA Required
    • COA Required
    • COT Preferred

    Preferred Experience

    • Ophthalmic Technician Experience (1 year preferred)

    Schedule

    • Monday to Friday, 8-hour shift

    Work Environment

    The Ophthalmic Tech will work primarily in a clinic setting. Travel is required to satellite locations and possible outside training.

    Physical Demands

    • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
    • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner
    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to lift patients with assistance (occasionally)
