    Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department

    This position is eligible for the $20,000 sign-on bonus. A staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional RN who directs and/or provides nursing care within the Emergency Department for patients with chronic, acute, and/or terminal illnesses. The RN will be responsible for triaging patients to determine priority of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the department. Communicates with ED provider regarding changes in patient's status, symptoms, and results of diagnostic studies. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Participation includes interdisciplinary team, committees, education, and the supervision of other staff/students.

    Job Description

    • Demonstrate appropriate assessment and knowledge of critically ill patients.
    • Assist providers with procedures such as but not limited to conscious sedation, central lines, rapid sequence intubation, etc.
    • Implement patient care according to planned interventions to attain the patient's optimal level of function and document according to policy.
    • Provide positive customer service relations.
    • Routinely participate in Quality Improvement projects and encourage the department to continuously improve.
    • Assist co-workers as needed/requested.
    • Support the Medical Center's Mission/Vision/Philosophy positively.
    • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
    • Perform other essential duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Currently licensed to practice as a professional registered nurse in the state of Missouri or be eligible to practice as a graduate nurse in the State of Missouri.
    • Knowledgeable regarding growth and development and assessing the physical and psychological needs of patients in the following stages of life: neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescents, adults, and geriatric.
    • Current BLS required.
    • Current ACLS required or obtain within 6 months.
    • Current TNCC required or obtain within 6 months.
    • Current ENPC or PALS or obtain within 6 months.
    • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures, and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.

    Physical/Mental Requirements

    • Must be able to sit and stand intermittently for 12 hours a day.
    • Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
    • Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
    • Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
    • Frequently stands, walks, sits, and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
    • Occasionally reaches above shoulder; regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 35 lbs.
    • Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
