    Westmoreland Health and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Wound Care Nurse to join our family!     Job Description

    • You will understand the anatomy and physiology associated with the body's ability to compensate and heal. Science will drive our therapeutic treatments. Skin integrity will occur because your scientific mind will lead to practical solutions for our patient's recovery. Your skin technique assures patient comfort.

    • Assessing is critical to proper intervention. Our nursing team will rely on you to understand and treat skin in the most effective ways. You are familiar with the latest innovation surrounding wound management, and you are a natural teacher to our nurses who are introduced only to the basics in their professional education.

    • In your role, you will take the complexity of wound prevention and healing and apply it to patient care. Your experience in wound care brings added value to the interdisciplinary team who pride themselves on exemplary quality care. The team will rely on your documentation, not only as it relates to treatment but also to educate families. Your presence in quality assurance and risk prevention programs is critical.

    • Healing is bound to the basics. Positioning, diet, and bowel and bladder functions influence the likelihood of healthy skin. So does compliance. Your ability to intervene with proven solutions will be revealed in patient outcomes.

    • Sometimes there is pain in recovery only minimized by our patients' trust and reliance on you. Comfort care is uniquely associated with progressive degenerative diagnosis. Defining comfort care comes from your wisdom and heart.

    • Care and compassion will embody your healing hands.

    Elements of the Position

    • Ability to perform wound assessment, reassessment, and management for all patients and per policy. This includes neonate, pediatric, geriatric, and the general population.

    • Knowledge of the anatomy and physiology and disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and dermal systems.

    • Utilizes principles of current wound management theory when providing care to patients with acute and chronic wounds.

    • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of staging system of wounds.

    • Develops skin care programs to prevent skin breakdown of patients.

    Qualifications

    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN).

    • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in medical/surgical, rehabilitation nursing. Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse (CWOCN) or Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) essential.

    • Must be well motivated, organized, and able to prioritize multiple tasks.

    • Must be able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people.

    • Excellent communication skills. Able to serve as an example to other employees.

    • Ability to learn & train.
