Job Description

• Responsible for providing management of all psychiatric functions of the facility.
• Provide effective leadership to the clinical staff and direct all psychiatric activities within the facility in accordance with standards of state and federal regulations.
• Assist in monitoring and improving retention of patients for outcomes that support long-term recovery from addiction.
• Analyze and evaluate patient data and test or examination findings to diagnose the nature and extent of mental disorders.
• Prescribe, direct, and administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
• Collaborate with physicians, social workers, psychiatric nurses, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress.
• Gather and maintain patient information and records, including social and medical history obtained from patients, relatives, and other professionals.
• Counsel outpatients and other patients during office visits.
• Design individualized care plans, using a variety of treatments.
• Examine or conduct laboratory or diagnostic tests on patients to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorder.
• Advise and inform guardians, relatives, and significant others of patients' conditions and treatment.
• Review and evaluate treatment procedures and outcomes of other psychiatrists and medical professionals.

Requirements

• Must be licensed in the state of Florida.
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an MD in psychiatric study.
• Board certified.
• A minimum of one year in partial hospitalization or outpatient setting, serving in an administrative function preferred.
• Licensed to practice medicine (MD) in Florida.
