Job Description:
- Provides technical assistance in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures utilizing sterile and aseptic technique.
- Acquires all imaging and post-processing.
- Provides emergency services on call.
Requirements:
- Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography for West Virginia, Ohio, and Maryland locations.
- Radiologist Technologist through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board of Examiners, or applicable state where services will be performed.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
- For Pennsylvania locations: Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography and obtain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
- Obtain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification (ACLS) within one year of hire.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitors and interprets Hemodynamic monitoring.
- Observes sterile technique while assembling supplies necessary for physicians and other lab personnel.
- Maintains the confidentiality of patient and unit information.
- Prepares entry site applicable to the procedure using sterile technique.
- Continuously monitors patient's ECG and blood pressure, documenting and advising the physician of any and all activity.
- Participates in the on-call rotation of the laboratory and remains available for emergent procedures 24 hours a day.
- Acts as the laboratory's code team by initiating resuscitative measures and cardiac defibrillators under physician supervision.
- Correctly documents all procedures performed and utilizes the inventory control system.
- Participates in educational and in-service opportunities.
- Instructs radiography students in the clinical setting.
- Maintains specialization in Neuroradiology and Vascular IR procedures.
- Participates in Inventory Management of the department.
- Checks and prepares the patient prior to procedure.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time while wearing lead aprons.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 40 pounds.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to differentiate various shades of gray as depicted on a black and white television monitor or photograph.
Working Environment:
- The work environment is clinical by nature.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, body fluids, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation. The noise level is usually moderate.
- Maintains Radiation safety.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate with physicians and peers on a professional level.
- Knowledgeable in Sterile Technique.
- Knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving, and transmitting images to data storage system.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, operating manuals, product information, or regulations.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization of variables.
