    ED Clerk/Registrar - PT

    Join our team as an ED Clerk/Registrar, working part-time for 20 hours per week with every other weekend and holiday required.

    Schedule

    • Week 1: Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10am-3:00pm
    • Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday 10am-3:00pm

    Job Description

    • Responsible for timely collection, validation, and entry of all demographic and insurance information necessary to support accurate billing for emergency department services.
    • Provides excellent customer service, ensures regulatory compliance, and performs related duties as required to facilitate effective patient care.
    • Follows established department guidelines to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of patient registrations throughout the emergency department.
    • Greets all customers, including patients, family members, and visitors in a caring and professional manner.
    • Functions as receptionist and directs patients and visitors; provides visitor passes.
    • Uses the ED Tracker system functionality appropriately.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of facility regulations regarding visitors.
    • Registers patients by collecting and entering accurate demographic and insurance information including verification of certain insurance types. Performs registration of patients using rovers in patient's rooms.
    • Maintains a solid working knowledge of third-party specifics relative to the Emergency Department, reducing financial risk for all parties; maximizes delivery of care.
    • Performs clerical duties related to admission/discharge/transfer using the system.
    • Determines insurance eligibility status using electronic data exchanges/third-party eligibility websites.
    • Determines and collects guarantor payments (co-payments) due at time of service, when permissible.
    • Obtains all necessary signatures on treatment & financial consents.
    • Manages communication in the various areas of the Emergency Department using proper telephone etiquette.
    • Provides waiting room customer service and wayfinding by assisting patients, family, and visitors as needed.
    • Serves as a liaison to ancillary departments as needed by completing STAT registrations as needed.
    • Follows procedure to initiate, notify, and document notification of organizational emergency codes (i.e., Code Blue, Trauma Alert/Code, Heart Alert/RRT etc.) after hours to ensure various parties within the hospital receive secure notification in a timely manner.
    • Provides afterhours switchboard support by handling incoming/outgoing calls.
    • Assists in providing registration workflow training of newly hired department caregivers.
    • Always maintains patient confidentiality.
    • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established safety rules and practices.
    • Reports on any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients, and visitors in a timely manner.
    • Performs other related duties as required.

    Requirements

    • High school graduate or equivalent
    • Two years' experience in a medical, financial, or customer service environment
    • Experience in a patient care environment preferred
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
