Job Description
- Provide emotional support and counseling to pediatric patients and their families, helping them navigate the challenges associated with illness, hospitalization, and social needs.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the social, environmental, and psychosocial needs of pediatric patients and their families.
- Collaborate with medical professionals to develop individualized care plans that address the specific needs of each pediatric patient and their family.
- Conduct individual, family, and group therapy sessions using evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
- Deliver education and support to pediatric patients and their families about coping strategies, disease management, and community resources available to them.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans that address the holistic needs of pediatric patients.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and progress in accordance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
- Stay informed about current research, best practices, and policies related to pediatric social work.
Requirements
- Master's degree in social work (MSW), marriage and family therapy (MFT), clinical mental health counseling (CMHC), or similar from an accredited institution is required.
- Licensed clinician required (LMHC, LADC, LICSW, LMFT).
- Prior experience in pediatric social work or a related field is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of child development, family systems, and social work theories and interventions related to pediatrics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to provide empathetic and compassionate care to pediatric patients and their families during challenging times.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to assess complex social situations and develop appropriate interventions.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
