ECU Health Chowan Hospital in Edenton is a 25-bed critical access hospital which provides programs and services to 110,000 people in 6 counties. The facility offers medical and surgical services, including intensive care, a specialty care clinic, and a dedicated outpatient surgery area with endoscopy capabilities. A 7-bed emergency department serves approximately 15,000 patients per year, and team members at the facility have access to a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Job Description

• A Cardiac Sonographer/Echocardiographer is a credentialed medical professional with academic and clinical experience to use imaging technology to help physicians diagnose heart problems in patients.
• They operate ultrasound equipment that provides moving 2-D or 3-D images of the heart and its chambers.
• The scope of practice includes those procedures, acts, and processes permitted by law, for which the individual has received education, clinical experience, and completed ARDMS-RDCS and/or RVT or CCI-RCS registration, which is the standard of practice in Ultrasound.

Requirements

• High school or higher (or equivalent)
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current ARDMS (RDCS or RVT) or CCI (RSC) registration/certification
• 8 years of experience as Cardiac and/or Vascular Sonographer

• IMPORTANT: This position is listed as Cardiac Sonographer IV, but based on the minimum requirements that are met, the candidate of choice will be hired as a Cardiac Sonographer I, II, III, or IV.
