ER Physician Opportunity
Job Description:
- Medical Center currently has a need for a full-time Emergency Room Physician to work in our 24-hour ED which sees about 16,000 visits per year.
- The ED is a Level II trauma center, and sees a wide variety of cases, however, major trauma, cardiac, neurosurgery and other critical cases are transported to a tertiary care center.
- The physicians and nursing staff are specially trained in emergency medicine.
- The department has one trauma room and 11 exam rooms.
- A PA or Nurse Practitioner may see patients with less urgent needs.
- The ER physicians develop their own schedules, generally working three 12-hour shifts one week, and four the next.
- In addition to working a full-time schedule, Cary can offer a flexible staffing model, such as per diem, and part-time; working site visits are welcomed.
Hospital Overview:
- Hospital is one of four rural hospitals in Aroostook County; the Emergency Department boasts the highest Emergency Medicine volume of all four hospitals.
- The majority of our ER patients are elderly with cardiac and respiratory complaints comprising a good portion of our visits, along with the expected primary care and emergent care visits.
- Our largest patient transfers consist of psychiatric, trauma, neurosurgical, and emergency cardiac situations.
Compensation and Benefits:
- The ER physicians are employees of the hospital and are paid on an hourly basis, negotiable based on experience.
- The hospital will pay a portion of the health insurance for the physician and will pay the full amount of malpractice insurance.
- The hospital will pay up to $600/year for professional licensing and subscriptions.
- The candidate will receive six weeks for vacation, CME, sick and holiday time to be used on an annual basis.
- The hospital will also provide CME of up to $2,500 per year and relocation assistance.
- Education loan repayment is paid in six-month increments and is typically spread out over the life of the initial agreement.
Opportunity Requirements:
- Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine or board certified or board eligible with a primary care board with ED experience.
- Allopathic and osteopathic physicians will be considered equally.
- American born and trained physicians and foreign-born physicians who have completed a US residency and/or fellowship will be considered equally.
- HIB and J1 Visa candidates will be considered.
- In-practice physicians, residents or fellows, and military-trained physicians will be considered equally.
