Location: St. Marys Regional Hospital, Grand Junction, Colorado
Job Description:
- Performs a variety of CT procedures using ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
- Uses ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgment to perform high-quality scans.
- Maintains ARRT competency in all clinical and technical functions of the job.
- Operates CT equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure production of quality images.
- Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
- Performs exams per department protocol.
- Reviews and evaluates images for quality, clarity, and accuracy.
- Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment for patients and staff.
- Completes studies within acceptable time limitations without compromising patient care or quality.
- Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses concerns.
- Coordinates patient care and communicates pertinent information to other care providers.
- Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.
- Keeps accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any incidents.
- Administers contrast media to patients per protocol under supervision and provides education.
- Stays updated with advancements in CT technology, techniques, and protocols.
- Assists and instructs students and other radiology technologists in protocols and procedures.
Skills:
- Understanding of sectional anatomy, anatomic terminology, and positioning competency.
- Proficient in operating CT equipment with a strong understanding of imaging techniques.
- Knowledge of protocols relating to contrast administration.
- Proficient with electronic imaging, including viewing, transferring, and manipulating images.
- Ability to recognize and respond to emergent patient situations.
- Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
- Effective interaction and communication with caregivers and patients.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Maintains a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff.
Requirements:
- ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification upon hire.
- Basic Life Support within 60 days.
- IV Certification within 60 days.
- Relevant state licensure upon hire.
- For Colorado, a Fluoroscopy License is required upon hire.
- Completion of controlled substance and moderate sedation modules where applicable.
- Specific facility-based certifications may also be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of CT experience.
- Experience in a healthcare setting.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to see and read information, assess patient needs, and operate monitors.
- Frequent verbal communication and hearing in interactions with patients and providers.
- Manual dexterity for operating equipment and frequent computer use.
- Ability to lift and transfer patients, and carry supplies and equipment.
- Ability to walk, transport patients, and distribute supplies.
- May require standing in a stationary position for extended periods.
- For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive and read signs and signals.
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36
Compensation:
- The hourly range for this position is $31.92 - $47.77, dependent upon experience.
