    Director of Nursing

    We are seeking a Director of Nursing to oversee administrative operations and provide oversight to nursing staff at our 42-bed skilled nursing facility located in Gardner, KS. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the daily needs of a skilled nursing facility and be well-versed in federal and state regulatory processes and procedures. The ideal candidate will ensure nursing staff are trained in delivering proper care, the facility is staffed successfully, and the facility is always compliant. A successful candidate will be an energetic and strong leader who is capable of being both sympathetic and authoritative and good at setting boundaries with staff and patients alike.

    Job Description

    • Train and educate all nursing staff.
    • Arrange and host nursing staff in-services and in-person skill competencies.
    • Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
    • Be capable of handling multiple issues at once.
    • Understand the regulatory issues facing a long-term care facility.
    • Have adept interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Manage the hiring, disciplining, and firing of the nursing staff.
    • Be available to speak to patients and families on an intimate level.
    • Run and direct the clinical survey process.
    • Assist with running mock surveys, audits, and provide clinical guidance for the creation of policies and procedures as needed.
    • Lead morning clinical meetings.
    • Be able to report to the state regulatory agency as needed or requested.
    • Attend Care Conferences, Medicare Meetings, High Risk, and QAPI.

    Requirements

    • Must be a RN that is able to practice in the state of KS.
    • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
    • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
    • Previous DON experience in a LTC facility required.
    • Must be extremely knowledgeable about state and federal nursing home regulations.
    • Willing to work with a diverse population of seniors and those with disabilities.
    • Recent LTC/SNF DON experience required.
