Pathology Physician

Job Description:

• Practice setting: hospital-based
• Reason for coverage: busy practice with one provider needing some time off
• Dates of coverage: one week/month
• Schedule: one week/month, Monday to Friday, 8-5, and call on weekends/nights
• Call schedule: weekends/nights
• Call ratio: 1:2
• Types of certification held by the laboratory: CAP
• Approximate number of cases read per day: varies by the cases - approx 40 surgical/cytology
• Locum tenen physician's responsibility for the clinical lab: clinical lab-blood bank/resolve difficult antibodies hematology - reviewing out of the norm peripheral blood smears
• Locum provider responsibility for grossing their own specimens: no
• Locum provider responsibility for cutting their own frozen sections on the cryostat: no
• Number of physicians in the group: 1.5
• Number of histotechnologists: 4
