    Location: Rockford, IL

    Job Description:

    • Operational accountability for an assigned nursing area/unit for an assigned shift
    • Perform direct nursing care approximately fifty percent of the time
    • Plan, organize, and direct nursing care in accordance with Mercyhealth's Mission, Vision, Values, and Philosophy
    • Assist with interviewing, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, and mentoring of the team
    • Provide input into performance evaluations and corrective actions as needed

    Responsibilities:

    • Strong problem-solving abilities in complex situations
    • Work within budget and productivity targets to meet organizational objectives
    • Support staff selection, evaluation, orientation, continued education, and development
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians
    • Focus on delivering high levels of quality, safety, and customer service
    • Participate in process improvement, quality, and organizational change initiatives
    • Communicate effectively and persuasively with individuals and groups
    • Participate in hospital and department committees
    • Develop and mentor staff and colleagues
    • Lead by example with professional behavior and accountability
    • Serve as a role model for service standards and service recovery
    • Engage in performance improvement activities
    • Utilize critical thinking regarding patient safety and experience

    Education and Experience:

    • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
    • BSN or agreement for enrollment in an accredited BSN Completion Program upon hire

    Certification/Licensure:

    • Licensed as an RN in the State of practice
    • Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days (Other certifications per unit requirements: ACLS, PALS, NALS)

    Special Physical Demands:

    • Regularly required to sit and talk or hear
    • Frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stand; walk; reach with hands
    • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus
