Job Description

• The General and Vascular Imaging Ultrasound technologist is responsible for the day-to-day operations (patient flow) and efficiency of the ultrasound department.
• Must have knowledge of all areas within the Ultrasound Department.
• Must utilize the principles of continuous quality improvement in collaboration with other health team members.
• Performs ultrasound examinations according to the currently accepted practices of the ARDMS and Northwest Texas Healthcare System.
• Prepares technical reports, exam rooms, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
• Performs a variety of technical procedures.
• Assists Radiologist and Staff Physicians with tests.
• Demonstrates ultrasound echo/vascular skills needed for all positions.
• Demonstrates good patient care.
• Utilizes appropriate leadership skills in supervising students and providing feedback concerning student performance.
• Demonstrates good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Acts as a professional role model for personnel.
• Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and employees.
• Assesses risks to patient safety and implements appropriate precautions.
• Complies with appropriate and approved standards relating to patients, infection control, and environmental issues.

Qualifications

• American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Current CPR certification required.
