    Job Description

    • The Student Tech is responsible for the day-to-day operations (patient flow) and efficiency of the department.
    • Must have a general knowledge of all areas within the department.
    • Must utilize the principles of continuous quality improvement in collaboration with other health team members.
    • Performs examinations according to their specialty and currently accepted guidelines of the Texas DSHS, ACR, and Northwest Texas Healthcare System.
    • Prepares technical reports, exam rooms, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
    • Performs a variety of procedures.
    • Assists Radiologist and Staff Physicians with tests.
    • Demonstrates skills needed for designated modality.
    • Demonstrates good patient care.
    • Utilizes the appropriate scanning skills required for the modality he or she is hired.
    • Works cohesively with a Tech and utilizes critiques and guidelines given from the Technologist for day-to-day scanning.
    • Demonstrates good communication between the student and the Technologist.
    • Reports to modality Supervisor.
    • Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and employees.
    • Reports any risks to patient safety and activates the chain of command when necessary.
    • Complies with appropriate and approved standards relating to patients, infection control, and environmental issues.

    Requirements

    • Current CPR certification.
    • Must be enrolled in an educational program in line with their Student Tech position.
    • Must attain certification within 6 months of graduating from the educational program.
