Cardiothoracic Surgery Locum Tenens

Join our team in Fredericksburg, Virginia, for a Cardiothoracic Surgery position. This role offers the opportunity to cover one to two weeks per month throughout the year, providing a mix of clinic work and 24-hour call.

Job Description

• Start date: 03/24/2025
• Cover one to two weeks per month throughout the year
• Clinic and 24-hour call responsibilities
• Rounding at the hospital with no active surgeries on the books
• Perform a wide array of cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including but not limited to treating patients with adult acquired and congenital cardiac disease, coronary artery bypass surgery, aortic surgery, valvular surgery, atrial fibrillation management procedures, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, and endovascular aneurysm repair
• Provide pre- and post-operative care to patients in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary care team
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of advanced practitioners, physicians, and other members of the healthcare delivery team to provide outstanding comprehensive care
• Excellent clinical and interpersonal skills are required as well as a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care
• Several advanced practice providers (APPs) available during the week in the clinic and hospital, with an APP on call overnight and on weekends

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine graduate from an accredited medical school
• Completion of an accredited general surgery residency followed by a residency in cardiothoracic surgery OR an accredited integrated general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery residency
• Candidates must be Board-Eligible or Certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery
• Current, unrestricted Commonwealth of Virginia license or licensure eligible
• Current DEA certificate without restriction
• Epic is the EMR
• Providers must obtain AHA certifications
• Virginia license at time of submittal is highly preferred
