Job Description
- Participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse; ensure the health, comfort, and safety of patients.
- Document a thorough medical history from patients and perform physical exams to determine patients' needs.
- Discuss information collected from patients with a registered nurse and administer medications or treatments as ordered.
- Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
- Counsel patients and family members, under the direction of a registered nurse, on prevention and treatment plans.
Requirements
- Must have graduated from an accredited school or college of nursing program leading to licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse. An associate's degree in practical nursing is preferred.
- Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the lifespan as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an RN (or LPN) at another facility.
- If IV therapy is required, the incumbent must have completed, upon date of hire or within designated timeframe as determined by the department, a board-approved educational program that included intravenous therapy in the curriculum or successfully completed a course in intravenous therapy that was developed according to board guidelines and approved by the board.
- Requires current licensure as a practical nurse in the state/states of practice.
