    Job Description

    • Responsible for the daily oversight and management of Employee Health for Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
    • Provide oversight and direction for nursing assessment and treatment to employees including coordinating physical examinations, ordering of appropriate tests, evaluation and treatment as well as follow-up care for both work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses.
    • Manage and monitor all Worker's Compensation claims, oversee the COVID testing site, and vaccine administration.
    • Assign and direct the day-to-day activities for the Employee Health staff to include new hire testing, employee injuries, COVID testing, vaccine administration, Fit Testing, etc.
    • Responsible for the oversight of the COVID-19 testing site to include training of staff, monitoring of processes for improvement, vaccine administration for new hires and existing staff.
    • Determine staff fitness for duty by performing a pre-placement screening history, exam, and testing as well as evaluating the physical condition of employees returning to work after an illness.
    • Track TB screening records for employees, maintaining a database, following up with employees not in compliance, and notifying department management.
    • Partner with the Infection Prevention team to ensure consistency in employee-related processes affecting all SRAlab staff.
    • Responsible for the coordination and processes for workers' compensation claims by providing nursing assessments involving disability claims and employee eligibility for sick pay, monitoring restricted duty dates, and coordinating return with department heads.
    • Assess and treat work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses, recommending course of treatment or making referral to a physician.
    • Administer the Hazard Communication Program, which includes maintaining the chemical inventory database and ensuring departments have an updated HCP manual.
    • Maintain the OSHA log by recording work-related incidents, tracking days lost and restricted duty days, and providing locations with an annual summary report.
    • Administer the Respiratory Protection Fit Testing Program, which includes arranging for fit testing for employees and providing respiratory protection training.
    • Collaborate with Infection Control Nurse to monitor employee infections that may affect the health of other employees or patients.
    • Assist with the preparation and administration of the budget.
    • Assist with the development of policies and procedures for Employee Health Services.
    • Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

    Reporting Relationships

    • Reports directly to the Chief Nurse Officer.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

    • Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and nursing practices and procedures acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree.
    • Current license in the State of Illinois as a Registered Nurse.
    • Minimum of 4-5 years nursing experience in an Employee Health setting.
    • Knowledge and ability to assess and respond to a multitude of employee health problems.
    • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with employees, physicians, administrators, and workers' compensation insurance carrier representatives.
    • Analytical skills necessary in order to evaluate employees' needs and state of health, take appropriate action or refer employees to appropriate sources.
    • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to fifty percent of work time in resolving employee health care problems and dealing with hospital employees, sometimes in stressful situations.
    • Requires motor coordination to allow for preparation and administration of injections.

    Working Conditions

    • Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.

    Pay and Benefits

    • Salary Range: $82,311 annually - $136,642 annually.
